Athletic Facilties
The City of McAllen maintains numerous athletic facilities. These facilities are used by the Department and other organizations for programming and athletic competitions.
With the growing popularity of sports like soccer, new facilities to be located throughout the city are being developed by the Department in conjunction with local organizations!
Adult Athletic Leagues
Athletic leagues play under the rules and regulations of the United States Softball Association (USA) and the Texas Amateur Athletics Federation (TAAF). Previously was the ASA Softball Organization.

TAAF Sports
The Texas Amateur Athletics Federation (TAAF) promotes, organizes and conducts amateur athletics in the state of Texas.
Participation in local TAAF programs provides the opportunity for both youth and adults to advance to sectional and state competitions.
After School Program
Supervised after school play and homework help are available at select McAllen ISD elementary schools. The After School Program is only available during regular class days. The program observes all school holidays and weather days.
The program also includes other athletic events for all participants!
2022 Fall Youth Programs
McAllen Track Club
Continue your track and field training and stay ahead of the competition with our elite program. Coaches will assist with improving participant’s technique, strength and stamina. Class meets every Monday & Tuesday.
Session 1: October 3 – October 24
Session 2: November 1 – November 29
Time: Monday & Tuesday / 6:30 PM – 8:15 PM
Fee: $40.00 per session
Ages: 5-18
Location: McAllen Sports Park, 3301 Buddy Owens Blvd.

10 & Under Tennis
Classes are aimed at introducing the beginner player to a fun-filled court action set up that helps prepare the players for match play. This program will provide instruction in forehand, backhand and serving.
Session 1: September 19 – October 14
Session 2: October 17 – November 11
Session 3: November 14 – December 9
No classes on Thursday, November 24
Days: Tuesday and Thursday / Times: 6:30 PM – 7:15 PM / Ages: 5-6
Days: Tuesday and Thursday / Times: 7:30 PM – 8:15 PM / Ages: 7-10
Resident Fee: $20
Non-Resident Fee: $25
Location: McAllen High School Tennis Courts (2021 La Vista Ave.)

Youth Golf
Beginner and intermediate lessons will introduce the fundamentals of golf at the Champion Lakes Golf Course. Lessons will cover stance, grip, and rules as well as driving, putting, and chipping. Collared shirt and tennis shoes are required. Class sizes will be limited.
